VENUE IDENTITY AND BRANDING

CEPHEUS



The brief was to design a corporate identity for a multi-purpose cultural and entertainment venue. The location for proposed venue was Berlin, Germany. The location impacted the idea generation and concept development for the corporate identity greatly. Berlin's unique, alternative and creative community impacts the city immensely. These attributes would therefore impact the style, tone of voice and aesthetic of the venue. The concept was to consider the identity as an ever changing source of creative inspiration for the city, similar to a transistor where the energy of the city flows through the venue. Research into parametric design, flow, form and various energy matters developed
the venue name and identity.

Cepheus - a constellation housing a particular star, the Cepheid star, which changes in brightness, diameter, temperature and luminosity. The constellation map of Cepheus was then used for the venue identity and branding. The shape that the constellation can take changes based on the various functions of the venue thus creating flexibility with the branding. The varying forms the shape takes represent the changing nature of the venue.
